Manlius is a town in Onondaga County, east of the city of Syracuse, New York. The population is estimated at over 32,000, making it the third largest suburb in metropolitan Syracuse. In 2005, the town was ranked #98 on CNN Money's list of Best Places to Live. The Town of Manlius is located on the eastern border of Onondaga County and includes the villages of Fayetteville, Manlius, and Minoa and the two hamlets of Freemont and Kirkville. School: The Fayetteville-Manlius Central School District is a public school system, serving the majority of the Town of Manlius. Students residing in the Town of Manlius may also reside within the East Syracuse-Minoa Central School District, or choose to attend Bishop Grimes Junior/Senior High, Christian Brothers Acamedy, Manlius Pebble Hill or other private schools in Metro Syracuse. Elementary schools: Fayetteville, Mott Road, Enders Road, Freemont and Minoa. Middle schools: Wellwood Middle School (formerly Fayetteville High School), Eagle Hill, and Pine Grove. High school: Fayetteville-Manlius and East Syracuse-Minoa.
Shopping & Dining: East Genesee Street is a main thouroughfare through Fayetteville which has numerous retail shops, eating establishments and a major outdoor shopping plaza (Fayetteville Towne Center). There are many chain restaurants in the area such as the Bonefish Grill, Carrabba's, J.P. Mulligans, Kirby's American Grill and Red Robin. Local Restaurants include Craftsman House, Hullars, King Davids, Kyoko's, Ling Ling Chinese, Papa Gallo Mexican Grill, Pardzee's, Pascale Wine Bar & Restaurant and Peco's.
Parks/Lakes/Recreation: There is a wide range of recreational activities available in the Town of Manlius. One can take pleasure in traveling the senic Erie Canal with it's formidable hiking/biking trail. Limestone & Butternut creeks wind through the Town of Manlius, which is used by fisherman. Green Lakes State Park is actually part of a primeval forest with two small lakes Green, Round) that have a beautiful blue/green color where you can enjoy fishing, non motorized boating, hiking, picnicing and golfing. Green Lake is on of the most studied lakes in the world since it's layers of water do no mix together.
